Croson Burns "Burnie" Miller, Jr., 79, of Badin, NC died Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2017, at Carolinas HealthCare System North East in Concord, NC.
Mr. Miller was born October 4, 1938, in Albemarle, NC to the late Croson Burns and Georgia Rachel (Lassiter) Miller.
On December 7, 1996, in Pinehurst, NC, he married the former Judy (Hatley) Miller who survives.
Mr. Miller was a 1957 graduate of Albemarle High School and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He had served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He was formerly associated with North Carolina Savings and Loan Association. He also worked as a Realtor in Albemarle and Stanly County.
Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Judy Hatley Miller, of Badin, NC; his three daughters, Ristie M. (Mike) Askew of Oriental, NC, Kelly M. (Paul) Gregg of Cary, NC, Melissa M. (Joey) Bell of Bunn, NC; one son, Croson Burns "Sonny" (Jennie) Miller, III of Wake Forest, NC. Three step-daughters, Andrea S. (Horace) Griffin of Albemarle, Jennifer S. (Jamie) Kimrey of Badin, Amanda S. (Curtis) Cox of Albemarle. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Michael, Mary Anna, Catherine, Aaron, Madison, Caroline, Allison, Aubrey, Greyson, Ross, Brinn, Landon, Will and Macy. Two sisters, Carolyn Payne of Reidsville, NC, Landis Neal of Reston, VA, and David Miller of Winnabow, NC.
A funeral service to celebrate Burnie's life will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 202 North Second Street, Albemarle, NC with Dr. Andy Jung and Rev. Harold McDonald officiating. The family will receive guests at a reception to be held following the service in the church fellowship hall. There will be a private burial service at 11:00 AM Monday, October 30, 2017, at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle, NC.
Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Miller to the First Baptist Church of Albemarle, NC or to the donor's choice.
Burnie will be forever missed by his loving and devoted family and many dear friends. May God grant him eternal rest.
