Major Curtis Vestol “Tony” Cooke, III of Mooresville, NC passed away on July 6, 2017 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville, NC. He was born on August 3, 1945 to the late Curtis Vestol Cooke, Jr. and Neva Mae Lee Cooke of Kannapolis, NC.

Survivors include one son, Curtis Ashley Cooke and wife, Kim, of New London, NC; one daughter, April Lynne Cooke of Canton, MI; 2 grandchildren, Dale Talbert (Anna) and Kristen George (Michael), all of Cameron, NC; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Caiden, Kelsey, and Mason. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Burnsed (Jack) of SC, their 2 children Mitzi and Anthony; former wife of 31 years, Angie Yow Cooke of Concord, NC; and his 2 beloved dogs, Tara and Biddy.

Tony was a veteran of both the United States Air Force and Army. After his 22-year career in active duty, he worked throughout the country as a freelance nurse anesthetist. Tony was also a life-long entrepreneur having operated 5 businesses during his lifetime. His hobbies included sailing, hunting and fishing, carpentry, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

The visitation and memorial service for Tony will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord, 460 Branchview Drive NE, Concord, NC 28025. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1 p.m.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517 or www.WoundedWarriorProject.org. The family will receive friends at 3000 Eva Drive NE, Concord, NC.
