Daisy Barbee

March 10, 1925 — April 23, 2017

Daisy Inez Barbee, 92, of Concord, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Morningside Assisted Living where she had resided for the past five years since her husband, Lee J's death.

Daisy was born March 10, 1925 in Cabarrus County to the late William Lawson and Gatha Coley McDonald. In December 1944 she married Lee J., the love of her life, and for the next 67 years until his death in 2012 they made beautiful memories. She worked as a seamstress at Cannon Mills Plant #6 until it's closing, then Plant #1 where in 1987 she retired with nearly 40 years of employment.

She was a very active member of her church, Oak Ridge Baptist since 1951. Throughout her life, she brought happiness to those who came her way. Her dogs, flower gardening and fishing trips with her beloved Lee J. to Melbourne Beach, Florida were her joys.

Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Inez Croft and husband Andy from Jacksonville, FL; granddaughters, Kimberley Peek and husband Stacy of Lake Park, GA; Jaclyn Palmer and her husband Ryan of Jacksonville, FL; and a great-grandson, Jeremy Peek and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, cousins and other family members and friends.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were six brothers, Fetzer, Raymond, Lee, Robert, Arnold and Buford; and three sisters, Dorothy, Mary and Fannie.

The family will receive friends to celebrate her life from 6 - 8 pm, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Friday, April 28 at 1 pm at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 5340 Flowe Store Road, Concord , officiated by Rev. Ray Rivenbark. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
