Daisy Ruby Lee Hooks, 91 , of Concord, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Five Oaks Nursing Home in Concord. Mrs. Hooks was born March 16, 1922 in Concord to the late Lindo D. Talbert and the late Lottie Clara Mae Rowland Talbert. She was also preceded in death by 1st Husband, Adam Lambert, 2nd Husband Richard Hooks, daughter, Martha Benfield, brothers, Paul Talbert, Gurlie Talbert, Charlie Talbert, and Willie Talbert, sisters, Bessie Carpenter, Lillie Lambert, and Nellie Goodman. Mrs. Hooks was a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church, serving as choir director, also wrote and directed the Christmas play's. Ruby was very musically inclined, and was called "Maw" by her family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, April 19, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home - Concord. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday,April 20th at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church 199 Elgin Drive NE Concord, officiated by Rev. Tim Yates and Rev. Rex Burleson. Burial will follow at the Running Creek Primative Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust. Survivors include daughter, Judy Yates; sons, Jerry Lambert, and Mark Lambert; sister, Rose Ann Drake; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, thirteen great grand children, and nine great great grand children. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Eastside Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 199 Elgin Drive NE Concord, NC 28025. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Hooks family.
