Daniel Alton Baucom, 71, of New London, passed away peacefully on  Sunday, August 16, 2020.

He was born April 25, 1949 in North Carolina to the late Alton Baucom and the late Daphne Peele Baucom.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by grandson, Justice Baucom, and sister, Bonnie Driver.

Dan retired from Stanly County after being tax assessor for 24 years. He played guitar in several bands. He enjoyed woodworking, watching baseball, and  loved his family more then anything. His grandchildren were his life.  Dan had a gift of making people smile with his humor. He never met a stranger. He volunteered and delivered Meals on Wheels in Stanly County for ten years.

A graveside service will be on Saturday, August 22, at 11:00 am, at the Town of  New London Cemetery officiated by Rev. David Talbert.

Survivors include wife, Carolyn Baucom, sons, John (Barbara) Baucom, and Stephen Griffin; daughters, Christa (Andy) Hager, and  Amelia (Chad) Presslar, grandsons, Cameron (Jessica) Frick,  Zachary Baucom, and Andrew Hager; granddaughter, Lily Hager, sisters, Sanda (Fred) Hight, and Wanda (Doug) Lamm.
