Daniel Dorsett Brooks, of Stanfield, N. C., passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Lake Park Nursing Center, Indian Trail, NC. Mr. Brooks was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Pineville, N. C. He attended Charlotte Public Schools and graduated from Harding High School. He served in the Navy during WW11 as a medic assigned to the Marine Corps. Following service he attended UNC Charlotte. He was a salesman for Delph Hardware and Speciality Company. He worked many years in Law Enforcement and retired from the Charlotte Police Department as a Reserve Major. He was a charter member of Carmel Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. After his move to Stanfield in 2001, he joined Love’s Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Renie C. Brooks; sons, Mark Brooks and wife, Luann, and John Brooks with his children, Jessi and Garrett. The service will be Monday, July 12, 2:00 p.m., at Love’s Grove United Methodist Church, Stanfield. The family will receive friends in the Narthex following the service.
