Dannie Freeman

Dannie Dew Freeman, 86, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 peacefully at his residence in Oakboro surrounded by family members.

He enjoyed gardening, square dancing and NASCAR. He had a constant companion with his Yorkie named “Rowdy”. His sense of humor enlightened any given moment.

Mr. Freeman was born December 22, 1935 in Union County, North Carolina to the late Earl Van Freeman and the late Janie Starnes Freeman.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Shelby Jean Kennedy Freeman, his two sisters, Brenda Sue Price and Joy Manus; his two brothers, Billy Neal Freeman and Donald Ray Freeman and step-son, Roy Lee Jr. Helms.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Oakboro. The memorial service will follow at 3pm in the sanctuary and be officiated by the Rev. Shad Hicks.

Survivors include daughters, Michelle Sides (Stan) of Oakboro, NC, Pamela Denise Helms, son, Danny Freeman (Terry); step-children, Jody Helms (Sara). Also surviving are grandchildren, Brittany Sides, Jamie Freeman, Josh Smalls and Kayla Crowe and a sister Ann Hilton.
