Daphine Meggs

Juanita Daphine Helms Meggs, 73 years of age, was called home to the Lord Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe. Mrs. Meggs was born July 24, 1938 in Richmond County to the late Clyde Leslie Helms and the late Rena Trull Helms. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, February 25, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, with a 30 minute state before the service, at Euto Baptist Church of New Salem. Rev. Dale Brooks and Rev. Lee Davis will officiate with the burial to follow in the church cemetery At other times, the family will meet at her home. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Marvin Hubert Meggs, of the home; her children, Beverly M. Whitley of Stanfield, Peggy M. Simpson and her husband, Reggie, of Oakboro, Kim M. Vaughn and her husband, Ed, of New Salem and William M. Meggs and his wife, Crystal, of New Salem; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters, Locke Helms, Emma Plattenburg and her husband, Tom, Hulsey Helms and his wife, Shirley, Louise McCardle, and Virginia Rushing.
