Darrell Cody

Darrell Cody, 69 years of age, of Richfield, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Darrell was born February 4, 1945 in Stanly County to the late Daniel Cletus Cody and the late Sarah Cody Briggs. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Cody.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Monday at 3:00 pm at Matton's Grove United Methodist Church in Gold Hill and will be officiated by Rev. Tony Bowman and Rev. Dana McKim. Burial will follow at the Matton's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery at 24732 Matton Grove Church Road, Gold Hill NC.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 46 years, Joyce Sells Cody; three sons, Brian (Kellie) Cody, David (Amanda) Cody, and Timothy (Angela) Cody; brother, Dewayne (Deloris) Cody; sister-in-law, Brenda Cody; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Emma, Bryauna, and Maddox Cody; Matt Helms, and Jon Gallimore, all survive to cherish his memory as well as a host of other family and friends.

Darrell was in the first graduating class of North Stanly High School in 1963. Following in his father's footsteps, he was the owner and operator of Darrell Cody and Sons Grading for over 36 years. He was a member of Matton's Grove United Methodist Church, and a retired member of Richfield-Misenheimer Volunteer Fire Department.
