Darrell Helms

Darrell Franklin Helms, 50, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center – NE with his mother by his side. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Don Burleyson, will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 3006 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kannapolis. There will be a 30 minute state. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. Darrell was born in Cabarrus County on February 18, 1962. He attended Concord City Schools. He was active in football, basketball, baseball and track during his school years and he loved drawing and woodworking. Mr. Helms was formerly employed in construction. He is survived by his parents, Howard Franklin and Gail Mauldin Helms; sisters, Mary Denise Helms and Angela Helms Joyner, her husband, Scott and their son, Chase; his children, Michael, Heather, Cody and Jared. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Helms family.
