Darrell Taylor

Darrell Lane Taylor, 65 years of age, of Norwood, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Taylor was born June 5, 1949 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Charles Lester Taylor and Wilma Haigler Taylor. He was also preceded in death by wife, Mattie Diane Taylor; brother, Charles Ricky Taylor; and sister, Linda Morrison.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM , July 12, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Ron Honeycutt will follow at 1:00 PM in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. The burial will be at the Oakboro Cemetery, 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro, NC.

He is survived by daughters, Tanya Taylor Almond and husband, Dale of Norwood, and Tammy Taylor Ricketts of Albemarle; sons, Shannon and Brandon Waller of Cove City NC; grandchildren, Mylia Taylor and Timothy Almond of Norwood, Myranda Ricketts of Albemarle and Zachary Almond of Troy; sisters, Dolorse Canaday of Concord, Michelle Lee of Oakboro, and Donna Smith of Red Cross; and several nieces and nephews.

Darrell was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Norwood D.A.V. Chapter 12.
