David Barnhardt

David "Wayne" Barnhardt, 96, of Concord, NC died late Tuesday afternoon, December 12, 2017 at Avante at Concord with his family by his side.

Mr. Barnhardt was born Sunday, October 30, 1921 in Concord, to the late Chester and Jannie (Rogers) Barnhardt.

On Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947 in Concord, he married his loving wife of 70 years the former Sybil Margurite Winecoff who survives.

He also leaves behind to treasure his memory his devoted son, Dennis W. Barnhardt of Concord. Preceded in death are his parents and his beloved son, James "Jimmy" Barnhardt who died February 19, 1958; two brothers, Roger and Chester Barnhardt.

Mr. Barnhardt honorably served his country during World War II in the United States Army, earning the rank of Private First Class. He was also a faithful member of his church for over 70 years at Ann Street United Methodist Church of Concord, NC.

Funeral services for Mr. Barnhardt will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Ann Street United Methodist Church, 335 Ann Street Concord, NC 28025, (704) 782-1250 with Rev. Randy L. Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord with full military honors.

The family will receive guests Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, NC.

Memorial contributions may be made on behalf Mr. Barnhardt to Ann Street United Methodist Church in Concord.

Wayne will forever be missed by his loving and devoted family and many dear friends. May God grant him eternal rest.
