David Thomas Galvin, 82, of Concord, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 at his home.
David was born August 14, 1942 in Staten Island, New York to the late John Joseph Galvin and the late Alice Cary Blass Galvin.
He was also preceded in death by brother, John Charles Galvin.
David served his country in the US Navy from 1960 to 1966 and was stationed in Hawaii. David married Kathleen in 1966 when he finished his service in the Navy. He worked as an Engineer for the phone company for 28 years and took early retirement. David was never able to sit still for very long and continued to work at other jobs to stay busy. He loved to garden and cook. He provided day care for his grand children from the time that they were toddlers until they started middle school. He was always an animal lover and always had a dog by his side to keep him company. David was always there for others and put everyone else’s needs before his own. He was the most selfless person and it was not limited to his family.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at St. James The Greater Catholic Church. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 1:30 pm at St. James The Greater Catholic Church in Concord officiated by Father Glenn Parker. Burial immediately will follow at the St. James the Greater Cemetery, 2323 Gold Hill Road, Concord.
Survivors include wife of 58 years, Kathleen Alice Galvin of the home; children, Patrick Galvin of Concord, NC, Paul Galvin of Concord, NC, Jessica Satterfield (Larry) of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Bryson Boss and Jordis Boss of Concord, NC.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
