David Mark Hooper, 66, passed away January 22, 2021 in Locust, NC.

David was born Dec. 3, 1954 in Burlington, NC, son of the late Lawrence and Doris Hooper and brother to the late Lawrence Hoskins Hooper, Jr. He was a 1972 graduate of Walter Hines Page Senior High School in Greensboro, NC and attended Guildford Technical Community College.

David was well-loved in the small, rural community of Locust, NC, where he lived for more than 33 years and served as council member from 1991 until 1995.

David was known for his frequent trips to Japan to visit his son Todd. He developed a love of the culture and for the people of Japan. David was an aficionado of souped-up muscle cars and loved his 2015 Ford Mustang GT Premium. He worked from home for many years as a manager of insurance recoveries for the law firm of Smith, Carroad, Levy & Finkel, LLP of Commack, NY.

Mr. Hooper leaves behind a son, Todd Hooper, of Takatsuki, Japan, two daughters, Valerie Brame of Reidsville and Marlene Brigham of Pensacola, FL and nine grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, Sanny Wroblewski of Beijing, China, a brother, Carter Hooper of Long Beach, CA and 8 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, January 25, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 522 North 2nd St., Albemarle, NC.
