David Horton, Jr

David Woodley Horton, Jr., 32 years of age, of Sims, NC, formerly of Albemarle, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, GA.

David was born July 25, 1984 in Wilson County to David Woodley Horton Sr. and Joan Allison Simpson Horton of Albemarle.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Albemarle officiated by Rev. Andy Jung, Rev. Steve Strickland, and Rev. Harold McDonald. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at a reception in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

The body will lie in state at Hartsell Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 9, from 4 pm until 7 pm.
Survivors include his father, David Woodley Horton, Sr. and his mother, Joan Allison Simpson Horton; his sister, Allison (Will) Turbeville of Locust; his paternal grandparents, Ruth Ann and James "Skip" Horton of Wilson, NC; and nephew, Blake Turbeville. David was a 2002 graduate of Albemarle High School and was a graduate of East Carolina University. David was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. He was passionate about life, his family, and his friendships. David was an employee of US Foods and as Jeff Rand, stated, "David exemplified what so many of the people in our company do. He went about his job, quietly, without calling attention to himself, and performed his job in a workman-like fashion, while conducting himself in a professional manner.. . . . . . . he was liked and respected by his peers, customers and everyone that he came in contract within our company."
