David Little, Jr.

David Little, Jr, 63, of Mount Gilead, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 at Carolinas ContinueCARE Hospital at University in Charlotte.

Mr. Little was born February 8, 1957 in Montgomery County to the late David Little, Sr. and the late Dora Mae Montgomery Little. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Camilla Little, Doraine Watkins, and Louella Little.

David Little graduated in 1975 from West Montgomery High School. He spent three years in the Army before pursuing his career in law enforcement. Captain Little was a 30 year veteran of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. He served as a Deputy Sheriff as well as the Head Courtroom Bailiff. He was very respected in the courtroom by the judges, court officials, and community members. David brought a tremendous amount of joy and laughter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was particularly fond of traveling, weight lifting, gardening, and tractors. He was fondly referred to as "Big" and this remained true in spirit, laughter, and stature.

Mr. Little will lie in state on Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. To honor his life, the family will have a graveside service on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Services will be conducted  at Chestnut AME Zion Church Cemetery located at 7093 Grassy Island Road in Mount Gilead, NC. The services will be officiated by his Pastor Howard McLaurin, Jr. of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Christina James of Odenton, MD; brothers, Johnny Little and wife Veronica of Mount Gilead, NC and Donnie Lee Little and wife Shandia of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Nikolas Cromer and Amaia Wall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
