David Cornelius Stroupe, 83, of Monroe, NC, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, in Carolina Speciality Hospital of Charlotte, NC. Mr. Stroupe was born February 23, 1928, in Gaston County. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Foster Stroupe; mother, Ethel Lois Morrison Stroupe; and brothers, Floyd Stroupe and Paul Stroupe. He worked for 17 years at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry as a garage mechanic. David was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Dallas, NC. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 p.m., Sunday, July 10, at Antioch Baptist Church of Monroe. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Joe Query and Rev. Arval Rushing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at their home. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Annie Mae Rushing Stroupe; children, Carol Lancaster and husband, Richard, of Indian Trail, David R. Stroupe and wife, Teresa, of Wadesboro, Rebecca Coppedge and husband, Lenward, of Monroe, and Cynthia Dalton and husband, Jerry, of Monroe; sisters, Ruby Lineberger and Betty Pasour, both of Dallas, NC, and Bonnie Schmidt of Clover, SC; brother, Dwight Stroupe of Bessemer City; and grandchildren, Marty Tomberlin, Amy Purser,Richard Lancaster, III, Shane Lancaster, Chris Helms, Christina Adams, Tina Haney, Matthew Haney, Lindsay Aponte, Erin Love, and Rebekah Coppedge, Matthew Ennis, Katherine Gray; and 13 great-grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is assisting the Stroupe family.
