David Samuel Segan Taylor, 50, of Concord, our beloved son and brother went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast after battling cancer for twelve years. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 6 until 7 pm. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 7 pm, with Rev. Gene Wiseman, a cousin from Cleveland, TN and Rev. Elwood Rakes from Winston Salem officiating. David was born on July 23, 1962 in Stuttgart, Germany. He was preceded in death by his adopted father Ellis Burleson Taylor and a brother Darin Segan. David was a painting contractor for 20 years, a musician and songwriter who played at various churches in worship bands. He is survived by: mother Jessie Adkins of Concord; father, David Segan of Waynesboro, VA; sisters, Darla Rakes and husband Mike of Winston Salem, Tonya Gusler and husband Ron of Monroe; grandparents, Rev. R.E. and Lottie Leadingham of W. VA; niece, Whitney Rakes Vesterfelt and husband Allen of Winston Salem; nephews, Jeffrey Lee Adkins and Beth McCain and daughter Akira Rayne Adkins of Kannapolis, Nicolas Gusler of Monroe, Brayden Rakes and wife Heather of Winston Salem; many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly ; friend and co-worker, Joe Miller; step-father, Leonard Adkins.
