David Thomas

Lucious David Thomas, 66, of Renee Ford Road, Stanfield, passed away December 6, 2009, at Stanly Regional Medical Center. David was born March 22, 1943, in Albemarle, NC, to Ralph and Emma Harward Thomas, both preceding him in death. An infant son, David Thomas, Jr., also preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years Rachel Kimrey Thomas of the home. He was the proud father of a son, Mark Thomas and wife, Missy, of Stanfield; daughter, Vicki Wiley of Oakboro; granddaughters Ashlyn Wiley and Gracie Thomas, whom he loved dearly, and he proudly called Justin Wiley his grandson. Although suffering in pain through the years, David always had a smile on his face and laughter in his heart. He had many special people in his life, including his “Breakfast Buddies” at Hardees, life-long friend, Larry Rushing, and “Backyard Brother”, Ronald Kinley. Visitation is Monday, December 7, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Stanfield on Tuesday, December 8, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Bruce League officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
