David White, Sr.

David Franklin White Sr., 79, of Concord, NC passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, at this home in Concord. He was preceded in death by the love of his Life, his Wife of 38 years, Joan Carolyn Pressley White, who passed away 9 years ago on January 28, 2014. He is now reunited with his Wife in Heaven.

David White was the eldest of seven children. He was born July 19, 1943, in Maryland and moved to North Carolina with his family and parents, the late Frank Breckwell White and the late Madeline Elizabeth Barnes White, in 1946. Farm life was always a way of life for David when he was growing up in both Maryland, where his mother was born and who kept close family ties there, and in North Carolina where his father was born.

David was a respected electrician throughout his life and learned his trade while serving in the U.S. Navy during the early 60’s where he was an Electricians Mate. He ran a successful electrical contractor business, Piedmont Electrical Control, which was located in Concord, NC. Businesses and banks contracted with David as he was considered a good and trusted businessman. People who knew him and his work would often say, “David White is an A1 electrician.” David was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Charlotte, NC since the 1980’s.

David’s family and business were his primary commitments throughout his life. He was faithful in attendance of family reunions in Maryland and any family event which occurred locally. He enjoyed NASCAR racing attending races at Charlotte Motor Speedway and often traveled to Bristol, TN to go to the races. He always had time to talk to you and more importantly would listen and help anyone who needed him. He made friends wherever he went in whatever he did and there are many.

Survivors include Son, David (DJ) Franklin White, Jr. of Concord, NC; Brothers, Daniel White (Linda Caudle) of Midland, NC and Don (Vicki) White of Leavenworth, WA; Sisters, Debi (George) Tucker and Dixie Howes of Midland, NC; Dorthea White of Crozet, VA and Dianne Gagliano of Charlottesville, VA; Brother-in-law, Danny Ray (Edna) Pressley of Little River, SC; and numerous nephews and nieces. DJ and family would like to give a special thanks to David's caregiver, Tina Emery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, February 3rd, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord and will be officiated by the Rev. Rodney Quesenberry. A graveside service and burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, located near Harrisburg, NC, at 12015 University City Blvd., Charlotte, NC.
