David Yarborough

June 23, 1938 — May 16, 2017


Mr. David Miller Yarborough, Sr. (BIG DADDY) 78, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017 at Five Oaks Manor. Mr. Yarborough was born on June 23, 1938 to the late Elam Ode and Martha Miller Yarborough.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home on Branchview Drive in Concord. The service will be conducted on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11 p.m. at Friendship Southern Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Reverend Jesse Watkins and Reverend Don Lisk. Interment of ashes will be conducted at West Concord Cemetery where Mr. Yarborough will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife.

Mr. Yarborough attended Mt. Pleasant High School and served in the United States Air Force as a firefighter stationed in Okinawa, Japan from 1957 to 1961. Upon returning home with an honorable discharge, he met and fell in love with his wife, Nancy J-Lynn Troutman and was married for 45 years till her passing in 2006.

Mr. Yarborough was previously employed by the City of Concord Fire Department retiring at the rank of Fire Captain in 1994 and serving with over 31 years. He was also the owner and operator of Yarborough's Appliance Service. He was a founding member, trustee and deacon at Friendship Southern Baptist Church. Mr. Yarborough also served on the Baptist Men's Disaster Relief Team and the Gideon's Ministry's and Missionary trip to South Africa.

Mr. Yarborough is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, one brother Marvin Eugene and longtime friend Ms. Carolyn Eury.

Those left to cherish his life and memories are David M. Yarborough, Jr. and fiance, Ruth and Jon Mark Yarborough and wife, Donna; one dear friend, Sue Helms; one step-granddaughter, Alyssa and his beloved Chihuahua Peaty; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Stephens, his nurse Brenda, PA Cherrie, and Dr. Delany and his staff, as well as the Brian Center and Five Oaks staff for the care provided during Mr. Yarborough's extended illness

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friendship Southern Baptist Church, 180 West Avenue, Concord, NC 28027.

Family will receive friends at the home of Jon Mark Yarborough (son).
