Dawson Barbee

Dawson "D.B." Benjamin Barbee, 72 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Carolinas Specialty Hospital in Charlotte. Mr. Barbee was born June 3, 1941 in Albemarle to the late Howard Aaron Barbee and the late Lula Harwood Barbee . He was also preceded in death by sister, Frances Ann Lewis, and brother, Howard Aaron Barbee Jr. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Sunday, June 1, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Oakboro. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the church and will be officiated by Rev. Terrell Watts and Chip Alsobrooks. At other times the family will receive friends at the home. Survivors include wife of 52 years, Vivian Marlene Barbee of the home; two daughters, Deborah (Richard) Morton of Oakboro, and Ellen (Thomas) Meadors of Stanfield; sister, Emma Mullis; brother, Jerry Barbee; four grandchildren, Erica and Jeremy Morton, and Brayden and Sheridan Meadors; and three step-great-grandchildren.
