Deane Morgan

Deane Ballard Morgan, 95, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Stanly Manor.

Mrs. Morgan was born July 2, 1924 in Gaston County to the late L.I. Ballard  and the late Cora Boston Ballard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Morgan; a grandson, Jeffrey P. Morgan; and all of her brothers and sisters. Deane was the last of twelve children.

Deane was a Sunday School Teacher, UMW President, member of the Official Board, Board of Trustees, and the Wesley Class while attending Bethany United Methodist Church. She was a member of the church for 63 years. Deane played basketball during high school and played professional basketball in Spartanburg, SC. She was a beautician for 57 years. She was a wonderful cook and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM, Friday, August 23, 2019, in the church sanctuary of Bethany United Methodist Church, 2411 US-52 in Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include son, Bob Morgan and wife Sandy of Southport, NC; daughter, Cathy Kolk of Albemarle, NC; grandsons, Matthew Morgan of VA and Nicholas Kolk of Albemarle, NC; sister in law, Ellen F. Ballard of Stanley, NC; and many nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 2411 US-52, Albemarle, NC 28001.
