Della Vivian "Blackie" Aiken Weddle, 85, of 2691 Tilley Road, Concord, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Monday, November 16, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 17, at Center United Methodist Church in Concord, where she was a member. Rev. Don Newman and Rev. Jerry Hagler will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Susan Hicks, at 2725 Tilley Road in Concord. Mrs. Weddle was born November 19, 1923, in Cabarrus County to the late Archie Aiken and the late Lillie Poplin Aiken. She was a retired fixer at Bangle Brothers hosiery mill.  She was also the owner and a cosmetologist at West Asheville Beauty Salon. She was a Revlon hand model and a former president of the North Carolina Cosmetologist Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Baitey Weddle, Sr., and her brother, T. J. Aiken. Survivors include her son, L. B. Weddle, Jr., and wife Dee Dee; daughters Susan Hicks, and husband Delbert, and Candy Spoor, and husband Brian, all of Concord; sister Zazle Linker of Locust; grandchildren Jesse and Danielle Weddle, David Hamilton, Amy Young, and Lee and Chrissy Hicks; and 4 great-grandchildren.
