Derek Dennis

Derek Allen Dennis, 55, of Mint Hill passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 in Harris Hospice House of Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Mr. Dennis was born March 17, 1955 in Mecklenburg County. He was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Layton. Mr. Dennis was self employed as a brick mason and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. John Harrell. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens of Charlotte. Survivors include his parents, Gary Allen Dennis and Patsy Ruth Smith Dennis of Mint Hill; and sons, Braxton Dennis and Derek Dennis, Jr., both of Charlotte. Memorials may be made to Harris Hospice House, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Dennis family.
