Dewel Bernard Simpson

Dewel Bernard Simpson, 87, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at his home. 

Dewel was born April 10, 1937 in North Carolina to the late Beacher Bernard Simpson and the late Laura Reitha Simpson. 

He was also preceded in death by the love of his life of 53 years, Judy Kay Simpson and brothers, Earl Simpson (surviving wife, Sibyl) and Don Simpson (surviving wife, Arlene.)

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm, Friday, November 29, 2024 at Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church at 7920 Crooked Creek Church Rd., Monroe. The graveside service will follow on Friday at 2:00 pm at the church cemetery officiated by Elder Charles Smith. 

Dewel loved the Lord and was faithful to his home church. He was family-oriented and adored his wife and daughters; he always made sure they knew they were provided for and protected. Dewel loved the outdoors, especially the woods, where he was an avid deer hunter. His mountain cabin in Virginia was a favorite spot of his, as he valued the quiet solitude of nature. He was also a hardworker when it came to taking care of his poultry farm for over 30 years. Dewel will be remembered for the love he held for his family, for being a great father, brother, "Paw-Paw", and friend. 

Survivors include daughters, Judy Price Macemore (Darren), and Joy Simpson Hedenskog (Jason); grandchildren, Bradley Price (Sydney), Kaylan Hedenskog, Dalton Macemore, Miley Hedenskog, and Levi Hedenskog; Brother, Jerry Simpson (Elva); Sister, Jonnie Mae Pierce (late husband, Joe).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church's Cemetery Fund, c/o Maurice Broadway, 6118 New Hope Church Rd., Marshville, NC 28103.
