Dixie Shelton

Dixie Taylor Shelton 75, widow of Thomas Shelton, passed away at her home in Richmond, Ky on May 17th after a long battle with cancer. Dixie had lived in Harrisburg for more than 20 years before returning to her native Kentucky in June 2014.

She was a life-long Christian and a long-time member of the Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg.

Dixie was the daughter of Walker and Lydia Henson Taylor of Waco, Ky who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by an infant twin sister, Dexter, sister, Glynda Carol Taylor, and brother, Donald Taylor.

Dixie is survived by one brother, Walker Taylor, Jr. (Judy), and two sisters, Barbara (Kenneth) Justice and Margaret (Dean) Acker, all of Richmond, Ky. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Sharon (Bill) Massey, Raleigh, N.C.

She is also survived by several nephews and nieces including Ty Justice, Atlanta, Ga, Jeff Griffith (Tara) Walton, Ky, Brad Taylor, Richmond, Ky, Michelle and Teresa Taylor, Berea, Ky, and Jeff and Jessica Massey, Raleigh, N.C., and three great nephews; Owen Griffith, Louisville, Ky and Donnie Wyatt and Blake Eades, Berea, Ky.

Dixie leaves behind many beloved friends in Harrisburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.
