Dollie Barbee Hatley Cook, 91 years of age, of Locust, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle. Dollie was born January 8, 1922 in Stanly County, to the late Jason James Barbee and the late Lectie Jane Almond Barbee. She enjoyed her careers at Postway, Kayser Roth and Pauline's Dress Shop in Concord. She was a faithful member of Mission Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and first husband, Marvin D. Hatley, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Renie Rushing, Azzie Little and Annie Barbee and three brothers, Coil, Atlas and Neil Barbee. Dollie is survived by her husband, Grady O. Cook and his family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Dianne (Tony) Furr of Winston Salem and Freda (Al) Smith of Charlotte; grandchildren, Angela (Jay) Ostendarp, Zachary Smith, Andy (Ashlee) Furr, Amanda (Shawn) Smith; great grandchildren, Alec, Jamie, Erin Dollie Ostendarp, Tate and Avery Furr and Henry and Charles Smith; she is also survived by her dear nieces and nephews, in-laws and loving friends. A Celebration of her Life Service, officiated by Dr. Ronny Russell and Rev. Jeremy Hyde, will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Mission Baptist Church in Locust. The family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at Mission Baptist Church Cemetery. Thank you to all the caregivers and especially the staff at Stanly Manor. Memorials may be made to Mission Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 12444 Mission Church Road, Locust, NC 28097 or Charity of One's Choice. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Cook family.
