Dolores Howell

Dolores Shaver Howell, 86, of Concord, NC passed away June 8, 2018 at Lake Wylie Assisted Living, SC in the care of Agape Hospice of Rock Hill. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oakboro, NC.

Mrs. Howell was born November 23, 1931 in Moore County, NC to the late Floyd and Isla Shaver. She was preceded in death by husband, Wallace Lytle Howell; daughter, Sharon Kay Howell and grandson, Wesley Andrew Moore; brothers, Gilbert and Dennis Shaver; and sisters, Jeanette Crouse and Anne Cain.

She is survived by her son, Russell Howell of Concord; daughters, Susan Howell Bare and husband, Mike of Davidson, and Gail Howell and husband, Chip of Lake Wylie, SC; grandchildren, April Plemmons, Matthew Ridenhour, Amy Tracy and Karrie Waldron; great-grandchildren, Brody, Knox, Sadie, Caitlin, Harlow, Landon, Neyland, Kaden, Garreth; and her sister, Judy Harrington of Carthage.

In her early years, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company. After starting her family, she was the local Avon sales lady. She finished out her career with over 25 years with the local postal service. Growing up, she knew what hard work was, living on a farm, raising livestock and picking tobacco in her dad's fields. She embraced these hard work ethics and moral principles throughout her life, placing others needs first over herself. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. Following visitation, funeral service will commence at 2:15 pm at the funeral home, officiated by Dr. James Howell. Burial will follow at the Oakboro Cemetery, in Oakboro, NC.
