Donald Benton

Donald "Tubb" Robert Benton, 58 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Donald was born January 3, 1956 in Stanly County to the late Marvin Archibald Benton, Sr. and the late Annie Mae Pankey Benton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Marvin A. Benton, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Jackie McPherson. There are no services at this time, but the family will be gathering at his home. He is survived by his wife, Diane Marie Berhannan Benton of the home; stepsons, Robert William Berhannan, Bronson Lee Berhannan, Waylon Edwards, and Jock Edwards; a stepdaughter, Wendy Edwards; his sisters, Joyce Allmon and husband Jimmie of Oakboro, Bonnie Lee and husband Gerald of Oakboro, Lois Rhinehardt and husband Mike of Aquadale, and Carolyn McPherson of Norwood; sister-in-law, Charlotte Benton of Albemarle, mother-in-law, Mary Randolph of NY; several step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Joe Almond and his wife Brenda. Donald "Tubb" loved all his friends, the Root Hogs and enjoyed cooking for them. Donald was an avid fisherman. He loved hunting, but most of all he loved his dogs.
