Donald Ray Freeman, 84 years of age, of Locust, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System in Pineville.
Donald was born January 27, 1933 in Union County, North Carolina to the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Van Freeman.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathon Beatty, two sisters, Brenda Sue Price and Joy Manus and brother, Billy Neal Freeman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, October 23, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Stanfield officiated by Rev. Bruce League . Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Deanna Little Freeman; three daughters, Sandy Morton of Locust, Suzy Hartsell and husband, Leonard of Stanfield, and Sherry Dark of Locust; one son, Billy Ray Freeman and wife, Jane of Locust; one brother, Danny Freeman of Oakboro; one sister, Anne Hilton of Monroe; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Donald was a U.S Army veteran, member of the West Stanly Lion's Club and member of Stanfield Baptist Church, where he enjoyed being the ladies softball coach at church. He loved spending time with his family, their Sunday lunches and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. Donald was a Godly man, loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
