Donald Herrin

Donald Lee Herrin, age 82 of 18661 Newsome Road, Oakboro, 28129, passed away on March 17, 2011 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in 33426 Old Salisbury Rd. The family will receive friends at Open Door Baptist Church, Monday, March 21, 2011 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm.. Funeral services will be Monday March 21, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Open Door Baptist Church, the Rev. Clinton Efird and the Rev. Nathan Hammill will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Stanly County DAV. Born in Cabarrus County on September 25, 1928 to the late Clifford Arthur Herrin and Elsie Minter Herrin and raised by his grandparents Paul and Minnie Smith. Mr. Herrin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Furr Herrin of the home; two sons, Dale Herrin and fiancée Kathy, Jody Herrin and wife Angela; two daughters, Tanya Barbee, and Ann Efird and husband Roger all of Oakboro; five grandchildren, Tiffany Beatenbough, Travis Barbee, Jed Herrin, Jacob Herrin, Zachary Herrin; seven great grandchildren, Baylee, Rob, Bo, Katie Beth, Caroline, Hadley, Taylen, Kaylee, and Anna Ruth; one brother, C. A. Herrin of Oakboro; and three sisters, Juanita Smith Tucker of Locust, Peggy Lidon of St. Petersburg, FL, Lucy Faile of Winston Salem.
