Donald "Don" Abner Walter, 92 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Albemarle.
Don was born July 27, 1922 in Cabarrus County to the late Edgar Lewis Walter and the late Fannie Elizabeth Cook Walter. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lillian Long Walter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday at 3:00 pm at Porter Baptist Church, 16562 US Hwy 52 S, Norwood, NC 28128. The service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Walter and Mark Walter, and wife Vicki, both of Albemarle; grandsons, Jonathan Walter and wife Kendra, Landon Walter and wife, Shea and Will Walter; granddaughters, Whitney Eudy and husband Jesse, Wesleigh Walter, Kelly Bakkar and husband Daniel, Jo Lynn Howell and husband David; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Mazie Eudy, Wakelyn, Lorelai, Avett, and Paxton Walter, and July and Violet Howell.
Don served his country in the US Navy as a Corpsman during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Don was the life long owner of Walter Printing Company, in Albemarle. He attended church at Porter Baptist in Norwood.
