Donna Burleyson

Donna Kay Gibson Burleyson, age 60, of Albemarle, went home to be with her Lord, on Thursday, March 1, 2012 with her loving family by her side, at her home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Monday, March 5 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church, officiated by her husband, Rev. Don Burleyson, Dr. Randy Wadford and Rev. Robert Leonard. Burial will follow at the Bethel Bear Creek United Church of Christ. At other times, the family will be at her home. Mrs. Burleyson was born in Stanly County on September 30, 1951, to the late Tom “Russ” Gibson, Jr. and the late Greta Blalock Gibson. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hayley in 2002. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Rev. Donald “Don” Edward Burleyson; two sons, Donald “Donnie” Burleyson, Jr. and his wife Stacy and Jody Eugene Burleyson and his wife Christie, all of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Janice Roberts and her husband Gilbert of Albemarle, Patricia Lear and her husband Bobby of Norwood, and Dianne Brooks and her husband Tab of Mt. Pleasant; and seven grandchildren, Samantha, Erin, Brandon, Olivia, Kaitlyn, Emily and Bryan, all of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Burleyson, along side her husband, Rev. Don Burleyson, have served at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church of Kannapolis, for 17 years. She was employed with the public school system in child nutrition. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Burleyson family.
