Donna Blanton Malmgren, 69 years of age, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014.
She was born April 24, 1945 in Lincolnton, NC to the late Eva (Wortman) Blanton.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Malmgren of Charlotte, NC; her son Peter Malmgren and wife Rachel of Concord, NC; her daughter Carrie Bekerman and husband Michael of Raleigh, NC; her sister Anita Shytle and husband Tim of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren Madelyn and Joseph Bekerman, and Ella Malmgren who is expected to arrive in January; her nieces Brie and Kia Shytle, and nephew Ryan Shytle all of Charlotte, NC; as well as her brother in law Tom Malmgren and wife Pat of Knoxville, TN. She will be dearly missed by her dogs Angel, Bali and Molly. She was predeceased by her mother and step father Clyde P. Blanton.
Donna graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1984, then went on to earn her Master's Degree in 1996. She worked at the Nursing Mother's Place as a lactation consultant and retired from there in 2005. In her spare time she enjoyed hiking with her dogs, reading, and cooking wonderful meals for her family. She loved traveling around the country and also going to one of her favorite destinations Kiawah Island. Donna loved babies and helping new mothers. She was a wonderful mother and a loving wife.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Nathan King.
Memorial donations in Donna's name may be made to the Doberman Rescue of the Triad.
