Today, she is not only seeing Jesus, but her beloved husband of 70 years, Lester, and her two sons who preceded her, Eddie Mac and Jonathan.
She leaves to treasure her memory, two daughters, Bobbie Sue (Max) and Becky; two sons, Leonard (Carol) and Phillip (Pat); and a special daughter-in-love, Donna Robbins Taylor (Roger); ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grand children; and six great-great-grandchildren. She has two surviving sisters, Hazel Howell of Goldsboro, NC and Charlotte McAfee of Bridgewater, N.J.
Donnie and her late husband founded Faith Covenant Church, now, Impact Church, in downtown Concord in 1981. She remained a vital part until declining health several months ago. Donnie was proud of the fact that she had returned to school at the age of forty-nine to become a licensed practical nurse and scored the highest grade in her class on the state boards. She was also an expert seamstress and made many quilts for her family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Impact Church, 44 Cabarrus Avenue, Concord, NC 28025. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm and the memorial service will be at 3:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Dona Wise.
A special thanks to the Impact Church family and Pastor Donna Wise who were so kind and loving in her last days. Also thanks to Ken and Judy Walling and Doug and Daphne Houghton for their precious kindness toward mother. The most special thanks goes to Becky, her youngest daughter, who was her caretaker until the very end.
