Dora Lee Hartsell Nance, age 78 of Albemarle, passed away peacefully at her home, on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 19 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012, at 4:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with a 30 minute state, officiated by Rev. Lowell Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at her home, 16745 Old Aquadale Road, Albemarle. Mrs. Nance was born in Stanly County on March 18, 1934 to the late David Aaron Hartsell and the late Edna Lucille Whitley Hartsell. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Billy B. Nance and a daughter, Sharron Loretta Nance, who passed away in 1961. She is survived by two daughters, Debra Nance Sloop of the home and Sherri Bolton and her husband Lee of Misenheimer; a son, John “Big John” Nance and his wife Terry of Albemarle; a sister, Louise Taylor and her husband Pines of Albemarle; three grandchildren, Edward J.“Joe” Huneycutt and his wife Amber of Houston, TX, Ashley Bolton and her fiancé Josh Bryant and Billy Bolton; three step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, William and Addison Huneycutt; and five step great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of Stanly County and caregivers Darlene Burleson and Kimberly Ray, RN. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC, 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Nance family.
