Doris Blayton

Doris Marie Maness Blayton, 72 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at her home.

Doris was born July 10, 1944 in Montgomery County to the late Howard Wesley Maness and the late Connie Ethel Lemonds Maness. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin "Buster" Maness, and Cecil and Jimmy Medlin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ron Dry. The burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Carson Blayton of the home; son, Wally Blayton and wife Theresa of Norwood; daughter, Judy Bullard and husband Keith of Rockingham; grandchildren, James Sellars, Jr. and wife Jessica of Ellerbe, Jonny Blayton, Josh Blayton, Jeremy Blayton, all of Norwood, Ethan Bullard of Rockingham, Anna Blayton of Norwood,and Cord Bullard of Rockingham; great-grandson, James Sellars, III; sister, Dorothy Sheffield and husband James of Ether, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She worked at Wiscassett Mills for 28 years and was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Green Memorial United Methodist Church. She was very active in Bible study and the church choir. Doris enjoyed going to the YMCA, where she had many friends. She also loved to read and fish.
