Doris Almond Burleson, 98, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
Doris was born October 18, 1926, in Stanly County to the late A.K. (Killis) Almond and the late Hettie Lambert Almond.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Amos Cletus “Coot” Burleson, and four brothers: Craven Almond, Clyde Almond, Jimmy Almond, and Billy Almond, as well as one sister, Edith Almond.
A graveside service to honor Doris’s life will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Canton Baptist Church cemetery, officiated by Pastor Curtis Williams.
Doris leaves behind two sons, Bruce Burleson (Sheryl) and Jerry Burleson (Debbie); seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Doris is also survived by one brother, Tommy Almond, and several nieces and nephews.
A life-long member of Canton Baptist Church, Doris was the oldest living member. She was known for her love of gardening, especially her beautiful flower gardens, and her delicious chocolate pies that brought joy to many.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Treva Hinson and Wendy Williams for their unwavering dedication and care of Doris over the past few years.
Memorials may be made to Canton Baptist Church.
Doris’s life will be remembered for her sweet spirit, kindness, love of family, and dedication to her Lord and Savior.
