Doris Drye

Doris Taylor Drye, 84 years of age, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Universal Healthcare in Concord.

Doris was born January 4, 1931 in Stanly County to the late Jonah Calvin Taylor and the late Minnie Mae Furr Taylor. She was also preceded by brother, J. C. Taylor, Jr.

Mrs. Drye was a retired custodian of Stanfield Elementary School, and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry, will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 12568 Philadelphia Church Rd., Stanfield. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, S. Gene Drye of NC State Veteran's Home in Salisbury; daughter, Wanda D. Little and husband Bob of Oakboro; son, Tony Gene Drye and wife Cynthia of Oakboro; grandson, Phillip Tony Drye and wife Tracey of Midland; great-grandchildren; Julia and Jackson Drye of Midland; sisters, Della Petrea of Locust, Geneva Mullis of Stanfield, and Novella Poplin of Oakboro.

The family would like to thank Morningside of Concord and Universal Healthcare of Concord for their loving and compassionate care of Mrs. Drye.
