Doris Edmonds

Doris Helen Porter Edmonds, 88, of Locust, NC passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011, at Transitional Healthcare in Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland, on Saturday, December 10, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Mill Grove United Methodist Church, 13659 Hwy. 601 South, Midland, NC, on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. Reverend Arvell Rushing will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will meet at her home at 618 Maple Street, Locust, NC. She was born in Union County, NC, on April 22, 1923, to the late David William Porter and the late Jessie Vandelia Hall Porter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Oneal Edmonds, in 1993; brothers, D. W., Clyde, and James Porter; and sisters, Beulah Duncan and Ruby Means.. Mrs. Edmonds is survived by a son, Denny Edmonds and wife, Teresa, of Locust; two sisters, Christeen Clontz of Charlotte and Kelly Ann Watkins of Indian Trail.; two grandchildren, Chris Edmonds and Aaron Modlin and wife Melody; two great-grandchildren, Kendal Modlin and Montana Ivey; and brother-in-law, Walter Means of Vero Beach, Florida.
