Doris Hagler
November 27, 1931 — January 18, 2017
Doris Virginia Gray Hagler, 85 years of age, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Doris was born November 27, 1931 in Cabarrus County to the late William McKee Gray and Mamie Green Gray.
She was preceded in death by husband, Campbell Craig Hagler, Jr. She was also preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Doris retired from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital (now CHS NorthEast) after 25 years in the outpatient business office, first as registrar and then as outpatient office supervisor. She was a member of Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church, where she has served as Sunday School superintendent and held offices in both the Rocky Ridge United Methodist Women as well as the Salisbury District UMW. Community activities over the years have included leadership positions in the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts as well as officer positions on the Harrisburg School PTA. She was active in the county's Republican party for decades, working at the polls for nearly 40 years and helping organize two Republican women's groups in the Cabarrus County area. She was a past recipient of the Tribute to Women Achievement Award presented by the NC Federation of Republican Women in recognition of her service to the Republican Party. She was also active with the Centralina Council of Governments' Area Council on Aging, serving on the Region F Aging Advisory Committee from 1999-2005 and also served on the Cabarrus County Department of Aging Advisory Board.
Survivors include daughter, Jenny (Sam) Knight of Concord, NC, son, Craig (Paulette) Hagler, III of Concord, son, Bill (friend Cindy) Hagler of Concord, NC, son, Tim (Nancy) Hagler of Harrisburg. Doris has eight grandchildren: Brent Hagler, Gray (Rich) Hagler Moore, Justin (Katie) Hagler, Samantha Hagler, Hillary Hagler, Ginger Knight, Natalie Hagler, and Emily Hagler. She also has a great grandson, Cohen Hagler.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church in Concord officiated by Rev. Tam Wensil and Rev. Charles Efird. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, officiated by nephew Rev. Rodney Quesenberry. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home of son Bill Hagler.
