Doris Hartsell

Mrs. Doris Shoe Hartsell 74 of 1902 Old Greylyn Court Concord passed away on Tuesday evening, November 3, 2009 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Cabarrus County on August 13, 1935 to the late Willie James Shoe and the late Ethel (Bost) Shoe. She was also preceded in death by a son Jeff Hartsell, whom she made it her life’s mission to take care of. Doris was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Concord. She was a loving and caring wife and mother who devoted her life to helping others at the church as well as her neighbors. Doris was active in the choir, children’s department, Women’s Missionary Union, and also served on the bereavement committee. The family meeting place will be at the home of her daughter at 1518 12th Fairway Drive Concord. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 6 PM until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 2 PM, with the Rev. Claude Connell and the Rev. Edward Pigg officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Survived by: husband, Ralph Hartsell of the home; daughter, Dawn Hartsell Scheessele and husband Tim of Concord, NC; sisters, Joyce Clark and husband Charlie of Concord, NC; Gaye Coley and husband Bill of Harrisburg, NC; Jane Harrington and husband Johnny of Kannapolis, NC; and Linda McGinnis and husband Ken; brother, Gary Shoe of Denver, NC; and also a number of nieces and nephews..
