Doris Hester

Doris Jones Hester, 72, of Concord, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, March 26, 2010, at Tucker Hospice House. Doris was the daughter of the late Floyd G. and Sue McGarrity Jones. Mrs. Hester retired from Cabarrus County Schools in 1995, after teaching thirty years at Royal Oaks and Bethel Schools. Doris was a member of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (Gamma Pi Chapter). Doris is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dr. E. Ray Hester, D.C., of Concord; daughter Jan H. Luquire and husband, Nick, of Weaverville, son Eric Hester and wife, Becky, of Cullowhee; five grandchildren, Erin, Emily, and Eden Luquire and Carly and Avery Hester, and special friends, Wilson and Lil Burton. Doris was an active member of the Kannapolis Church of Christ. She helped maintain the church library and teacher resource center for years and regularly taught ladies bible classes. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Kannapolis Church of Christ with Kirk Sams officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30- 1PM. Interment will occur on Saturday at Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kannapolis Church of Christ, 2315 Concord Lake Road, Concord, NC 28025, or to Gamma Pi Scholarship Fund, c/o Cheryl Brandon, 279 Eastcliff Drive, Concord, NC 28025.
