Doris Marsh

Doris  Renee Marsh, 75, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 at University Place Nursing and Rehabilation Services in Charlotte.

Renee was born January 15, 1945 in Siler City, North Carolina to the late Robert Marsh and the late Doris Marie Norris.

Renee moved to Brooklyn, New York with her mother before her 1st birthday and was a native New Yorker in her heart.  She loved the city life. She attended Catholic School, had 2 daughters and worked for Martinizing Cleaners in Coney Island.  But in 1979 she packed up her girls and moved to Asheboro, NC.

Renee loved to cook and bake. One of her specialties was a lemon pound cake. She also loved to read novels, socializing and making new friends.  Everyone who knew her, knew she could talk to anyone and carry on a conversation and before you knew it they were friends. If she liked you, you knew it, and if she didn’t like you, you knew it and she didn’t even have to say it.  But she loved her daughters more than anything else and to her girls she was the best mother you could ask for.

Survivors include daughter, Ericka Floyd of Greeenville, SC, daughter, Shelby (Michael) Dobson of Charlotte, NC, granddaughter, Chandler Cassett (Yazmirah) of Greenville, SC, granddaughter, Alexis  Floyd of Jackson, MS, granddaughter, Jordan Floyd of Columbia, SC, grandson, Simeon Floyd of Greenville, SC, granddaughter, Sierra Dobson of Charlotte, NC; also surviving are great-grandson, Ezra Cassette of Greenville, SC, sisters, Lorraine Barnes of Queens, NY, Denise Woodford of Thomasville, NC, Miriam Marsh Sifuentes of Houston, TX, Denise Marsh of Greensboro, NC and Joanne Terrell of El Paso, TX;  brother, Lee Smith of Liberty, NC; also including a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. A gathering of friends will follow the service.
