Doris Morton

Doris Ann Helms Morton, 88 years of age, of Norwood, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Bethany Woods in Albemarle.
Doris was born February 26, 1928 in Stanly County to the late Zeb Caldwell Helms and the late Mary Lois Kiser Helms. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willard Allis Morton; son, Jimmy Morton; brothers, Robert, Everette "Buck", and Carlon Helms; and a sister, Sue Page.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel with Elder Ted Morton officiating. The burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, NC Highway 138, Oakboro.
She is survived by daughter, Carol Tarleton and husband Carl "Vernon" of Norwood; son, Roy Morton of Midland; brothers, Bruce Helms of Stanfield and Clifford Helms of Norwood; sisters, Bonnie Morgan of Stanfield, Brenda Kinley of Stanfield, and Bernice Thompson of Albemarle; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Doris loved to be outside, and was an avid gardener.
