Doris Wise

Doris Grace Davis Wise, 89, of Albemarle passed away January 12, 2012 at the Lutheran Home of Albemarle. She was born in Lawrence County, GA on September 9, 1922, the daughter of the late Thomas Frank Davis and Emma Lou Davis, and was one of ten brothers and sisters. She married Joseph E. Wise in 1945 and lived in Bayside, NY for many years. Doris and her husband retired and moved to Albemarle where she was active in volunteer work with Meals-On-Wheels, Stanly Hospital and First Street United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband in 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hunicke and husband Wayne of Florida and two grandchildren; Robin Hunicke-Smith and Brian Hunicke. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. “Sugar” Waites of Georgia, and many nieces and nephews including Gwen Shaver, Mike Davis and Tommy Davis here in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 6 PM till 8 PM. The funeral service will be at First Street United Methodist Church of Albemarle, where she was a member, on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 2 PM. Rev.
