Dorothy “Dot” Luella Faggart Barrier, 82 of 15995 Hwy. 601, Midland, NC 28107, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2011, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. The funeral service will be at 11 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. Rev. Clarence Sifford will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service. The family will meet at her home on Thursday and Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.. Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery. Born in Cabarrus County on October 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harry Edward Faggart, Sr. and the late Emma Eugenia Wade Faggart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Alexander “Buck” Barrier, Jr. in 2010 and a brother, Harry Faggart, Jr. She is survived by her son, Philip Barrier and wife Ann Marie of Concord; two daughters, Karen Barrier McAlister of Albemarle and Amy Barrier Clontz and husband Gerald of Midland; eight grandchildren, Cara and Amanda Barrier, Brandy Clontz Puckett, Tyler Clontz, Jenny McAlister Stewart, Will McAlister, Todd McAlister and Leann McAlister; and five great grandchildren; and a brother Billy Faggart of Tryon, NC. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress. She enjoyed painting ceramics and woodcrafts. She often participated in the Stanfield Arts and Crafts Show. She enjoyed frequent trips to the mountains and the beach with her family and loved her many cats and dogs. She was active at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church as long as her health permitted. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3600 Hwy. 601 S. Concord, NC 28025. The family would like to thank the many people who lovingly cared for her during the past two years: her special caregivers, Elaine Waldrop, Shirley Arrowood, Jennifer Finney, Annette Marsh, and Karen Clontz; Hospice workers, Adriane, Tammy and Jenna; and dear friends Candy Stone and Connie Nimmo. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is assisting the family.
