Mrs. Dorothy Lee McIntyre Beaver, age 85, of Concord, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. She was born on July 3, 1925 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late William Heglar and Ollie Mae McIntyre Alexander. She is also preceded in death by a son, Charles Martin Beaver and a brother, Dick McIntyre. Dorothy was of the Christian Faith and a graduate of Hartsell High School. She retired from Cannon Mills after 25 years as a weaver at Plants #10 and #18. Mrs. Beaver was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0051 and the American War Mothers. She volunteered weekly at the VA Hospital and also was a regular supporter of local orphanages. Dorothy was married for 65 years to the love of her life, Charles Ray Beaver, and together they enjoyed traveling the US and Europe. She was an avid reader, especially of the Bible and loved cooking, camping, and the beach. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord from 5 until 7 PM followed by a memorial service in the chapel with Rev. Marvin Goodnight officiating. At other times, the family welcomes friends at the home. She is survived by her husband, Charles Beaver, of the home; daughters, Paula Kee and husband, Eddie, of Concord and Sheree Martin and husband, Bill, of Winter Springs, FL; son, Michael Stephen Beaver, of Concord; daughter in laws, Ruby Pat Beaver and Tinker Beaver, both of Concord; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
