Dorothy Helms

Dorothy Pauline "Polly" Helms, 89 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Helms was born September 14, 1927 in Cabarrus County to the late Daniel Dexter Starnes and the late Mary Christine Starnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Franklin Helms and a daughter, Shirley Ann Helms Hartsell.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Red Cross Baptist Church, 112 W. Red Cross Road in Oakboro. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Jesse Herring, Pastor Clint Lewey, and Rev. Garry Baker. Burial will be held in the church cemetery following the service.

Survivors include son, Keith Helms of Oakboro; daughters, Brenda Carpenter of Gastonia, Linda Rushing of Oakboro, Sheila Allen of Oakboro, Lisa Green of Oakboro; seventeen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
